DYE - The Art of Slowing Down

6/17/23 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Slowing down has gotten a bad rap in our culture. Think of “Sunday Drivers” and feel what that does to your body. Slowing down doesn’t mean forsaking the world around us and setting the pace for others, it is an act of self-care, that when done mindfully and with consistency, can help us reset our minds and bodies so that we can be more fully present in the world.

That is why our next event is designed around slowing down.

By the end of this 90-minute DYE on the Art of Slowing Down, you will begin to see how slowing your pace can be beneficial in myriad ways. You will notice the patterns of breath, thought, and action that no longer serve you and will be offered tools to bring in new ways to move forward with your fresh perspective. You will be guided by two people who are traveling with you and who care deeply about embodying and transmitting these teachings and practices.

The Art of Slowing Down is an opportunity to connect too, enjoy, and fully experience your life.

Your presence is an affirmation of wellbeing. When you register for Anecdotal Anatomy events, you are inviting transformation at the deepest level, and that takes time.

Remember, slowing down doesn't necessarily mean doing everything at a snail's pace, It’s more about finding a balanced rhythm that allows for rest, reflection, and appreciation of life's moments. Slowing down helps cultivate patience and gratitude.

Here’s why slowing down is a core practice of Anecdotal Anatomy and why Theresa and Sherry are passionate about sharing it with you.

  • Slowing down gives us time to see and appreciate the world in which we live.

  • It provides the time to allow creativity to express itself and imagination to wander in wonder.

  • When we slow down, we have more time and energy to invest in our relationships, strengthening them by being fully present.

  • Slowing down is self-care, it helps reduce stress and opens us up to healthful eating, joyful walking, and good rest.

  • It keeps us from regular “burn-out” so we can keep our commitments to ourselves and others.

  • When our pace slows, we can deepen our understanding of ourselves at the core and become more responsive and less reactive.

  • In this fast-paced world, slowing down sets the stage for more sustainable living practices including mindful consumption of food and resources and prioritizing long-term wellbeing of self and planet over short-term gratification.
