for passionate women seeking refuge through nature, community and self-care.

Gather with us, slow down, and celebrate the gifts of summer through practices of mind, body and spirit.

Saturday 6/24/23 11:00am – 4:00pm

Sunday 6/25/23 11:00 – 4:00pm

Yardely, PA

Rhythm & Rhyme Retreat is a two-day immersive experience for women looking to slow down, connect with community, and find refuge, while mining the meaning of the season.

Each session offers participants the opportunity to connect to themselves, the earth & each other, in a container of contemplation and practice.  Core Creek Park is the perfect host for this event.

As we move into summer, we experience an abundance of change, not only in the weather, but in the energies, gifts and possibilities that come with seasonal transitions.  What better place than a local park, to honor the earth through community practice?

Rhythm & Rhyme Retreat is a signature program offered through Anecdotal Anatomy. While the theme of the retreat changes with each offering, there are certain things that remain consistent. Whether we’re playing with home practice, slowing down, or any of a number of mindfulness-based topics, you can expect transformation as one of the intangible, yet very real, items in the “goodie bag” you get to take home with you.

Please note that due to the inclement weather forecast, the venue location for the retreat has been changed. The new address for the Yardley location will be provided in your confirmation email. We can’t wait to see you!

During the Rhythm & Rhyme Retreat you will connect with yourself, each other and the earth through individual, as well as, interactive & collaborative practices.  We will gather in a fun, light-hearted, playful atmosphere of curiosity and wonder, as we explore the many layers that make up our experience of being alive.  We will move our bodies, hearts & minds in rhythm with the collective pulse while honoring the poetry & rhyme of embodiment.  You will leave this retreat feeling those deeper connections and the energetic support of community and nature.  You may feel the surge of happy hormones as they course through opening channels, boosting your mood and leaving unnecessary stress by the wayside.  You will trust your senses as they invite the world in, dropping breadcrumbs to follow for future investigation.

Rhythm & Rhyme Retreat was built around our basic needs to be seen, heard & honored.  Congratulations on choosing to step more fully into wellbeing!

Retreat Overview

  • Before We Dive In!

We have two days to explore the benefits and practices of slowing down. The days are divided into two sections: The Body & Everything Else! We will take some time on Day One, before moving mindfully into our day, to unpack this radical idea of slowing down and how simply by reducing our pace, we can access the beauty and magic all around us in a more tangible way. Once we establish the basic principles and practices, we will be off and moving slowly!

  • Body: Somatic Movement

There is great value to slowing down, and on day one of this retreat, you will begin to embody this wisdom (even if your mind has to catch up). We will engage in activities designed to ignite the spark of a more mindful pace, including walking and guided meditations, food preparation and community mealtime, as well as other body-based activities that will help re-pattern our more rushed mentality into the soft tissues of our physical being.

  • Mind: Heart, Thoughts, & Emotions

Following our physical explorations and direct experiences with slowing down, we will take that energy and re-focus it to the mental sheath which houses our thoughts and emotions. We will still be accessing our physical bodies, but will begin to hone more specifically to our stories (the ones we tell ourselves and the ones we’ve been told). We will take our red editor’s pencil and re-write those stories to fit more organically into our lives and purpose.

Footnotes

Nature is our guide.  We gather in the park, in nature, to better connect to ourselves, each other, and the natural world.  Our time together will be shared by all who look up at the same sky, reminding us that we are all connected.

Theresa & Sherry recognize the importance of retreat as a means of self-care and have the gifts & skills to guide others as they seek refuge.  Their collective mission includes healing from the origin of our stories, connecting individuals to the collective, and leaving no trace.
